The Vltava 28 between Vyšší Brod and Rožmberk is an iconic Czech trout area great for fly fishing. In Czech terms, it is already a larger river with a good population of brown trout and regular stocking of rainbow trout.
The river is influenced by the release of water from the Lipno II balancing reservoir and it is good to monitor the water flow. For fly fishing, a water flow below 10 m3s-1 is ideal.
At higher water levels it is important to have a good knowledge of the area and also to pay extra attention when wading.
On the Vltava 28 you can fly fish during the whole season, but many fly fishermen have this area connected with the evening caddis hatch (May, June). During the summer months the Vltava is full of boaters, which bothers anglers more than the fish.
