Hackled Wet Flies are most commonly used for brown and rainbow trout fishing on still waters. These flies are specific and comparatively simple patterns that have hackles tied from a hen or rooster feather across the length of the body. They are also called Palmers. This collection of flies includes exceptionally effective and non-aging patterns such as Soldier Palmer, Bibio, Black Zulu, Kate Mclaren and others.
Although these are very traditional and old patterns of artificial flies, they are still being used with great success all over the world! These types of flies should definitely not be missing in the box of any stillwater fly fisher!
