The Damsels's time comes at the summit of summer during the months of July and August. On the water we can almost observe the crumbly blue Damsels every day. If we see a large number of these blue adults above water, we can expect the similar situation underwater in the form of thin olive-colored Damsel larvae, which are most commonly found among underwater plants. The Damsels are found mainly in ponds and reservoirs, where fish exclusively feed them during the summer months.
With the imitation of these nymphs we fish like a streamer or wet fly techniques - a slow irregular run with occasional long stretches which raises a fine marabou tail. This movement is a very attractive for rainbow and brown trout. Damsel Nymphs are absolutely essential flies for every lake fly fisher who wants to fish on still waters with success even during hot summer days!
